     Judge Joseph Story     1779-1845

     Joseph Story, born in Marblehead, Massachusetts, graduated from Harvard in 1798 and was admitted to the bar in Salem in 1801.

     He served in the U.S. Congress and for two terms was Speaker of the House. At the age of 32 he was appointed to the Supreme Court

     by President Madison. He thus became the youngest justice ever appointed to the Court. Click on Joseph Story for more information.
