          Simon Forrester was born in Ireland, where he attended college and began working on the family farm. He wasn't happy farming and

          made his way to England, where he found work on a Salem schooner. The captain of the schooner liked Forrester and the young Irishman

          decided to live in America. He settled in Salem and became one of the first privateer captains in the American Revolution. He captured a

          number of British vessels and soon found himself financially secure. One thing led to another and Forrester became wealthy as a highly

          successful shipping merchant.
